I started this list for my own record/memory, but you’re welcome to take advantage of it. These listings are not at all kept up-to-date, please consider them rather as a random collection of suggestions. No responsibility taken!

Austria
Salzburg –> M32 unbeatable view over the town of Salzburg.

Germany
Berlin
–> Yumcha Heroes, Weinbergsweg 8, great dumplings, in Berlin Mitte; cool design.
–> Edd’s real Thai Food!
–> Kreuzberg: Baretto Wrangelstrasse 41, coffee and sandwiches.
Bochum
–> if you happen to get stuck in the rather depressing town of Bochum, there is one place that might enlighten your stay a bit: Caffè Zentral. Good food, free internet, nice people.
Dresden
–> my best bet so far: Max Altstadt, with OK food, lots of space and free internet (login at FON, then login is maxaltstadt, password is moritz)
Köln
–> Salon und Metzgerei Schmitz great salads, quiche, hang-out.
–> Celentano
–> Mercato Deluxe
–> The great Wall

Italy
Turin
–> Da Michele, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, 4. Fine ‘home made’ Piemonte food in small local place.
–> CafĂ© Gelateria Fiorio, Via Po, 8. Coffee and sensational Zabajone in traditional place, built in 1780 – and so is their website.

Netherlands
Amsterdam –> Latei, Zeedijk 143, coffee, juice, food and tiny shop!
–> Small World, Binnen Oranjestraat 14.
–> ‘t Blauwe Theehuis, right in the Vondelpark.

Poland

Krakau –> Satori, breakfast and lunch!
Wroclaw
–> Soul Cafe. Lunch! Salads, probably the best cookies I ever had.
Warsaw –> Fabrykatrzciny. Out of the centre, and not always open, but check for events!

South Africa
Capetown –>, Long St, great lunch, good vibes.
Johannesburg –> Main street Life,

Spain
Ourense –> CafĂ© Latino. This is what a Jazz Cafe should be like.
Granada –> Pasteleria Lopez-Mezquita, Reyes CatĂłlicos, 39. Coffee, great pastries and watching the locals.

United States
San Francisco Blue Bottle. No chairs. Just great coffee.
–> Absinthe For sentimental reasons (and the oysters)
