Salzburg –> M32 unbeatable view over the town of Salzburg.
Ely –> If your on the road in Cambridgeshire, do try to stop in pretty Ely and have lunch or dinner in The Old Fire Engine House.
London –> Busaba nice Thai near British Museum
–> Salt, near Covent Garden: great food, tea and coffee, brought to you by nice people
–> Yalla Yalla, Lebanese near Wigmore Hall
Berlin –> Yumcha Heroes, Weinbergsweg 8, great dumplings, in Berlin Mitte; cool design.
–> Edd’s real Thai Food!
–> Kreuzberg: Baretto Wrangelstrasse 41, coffee and sandwiches.
Bochum –> if you happen to get stuck in the rather depressing town of Bochum, there is one little corner that might enlighten your stay a bit: the crossing of Alte Hattinger Str and Dibergstrasse you’ll find Bar/Restaurant Orlando with decent food and free fast internet, great Coffee @ Baristoteles, the nice shop Jugnle and yummy ice cream @ Kugelpudel.
Also convenient: Caffè Zentral. Good food, nice owner, close to the Station.
Dresden –> my best bet so far: Max Altstadt, with OK food, lots of space and free internet
Erfurt –> Cafe Hilgenfeld, Domplats 4, for excellent coffee
Köln –> Salon und Metzgerei Schmitz great salads, quiche, hang-out.
–> Die Rösterei, good food and coffee, Aachener Strasse.
–> Celentano take pasta, no pizza.
–> Mercato Deluxe, a bit cique but good food and great dessert.
–> The great Wall, REAL Chinese! Near the Dom.
Budapest Coffee and cake near the opera: Muvesz
Turin –> Da Michele, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, 4. Fine ‘home made’ Piemonte food in small local place.
–> Café Gelateria Fiorio, Via Po, 8. Coffee and sensational Zabajone in traditional place, built in 1780 – and so is their website.
Tokyo –> Dug, nice small basement club in the heart of crazy Shinjuku. No live jazz anymore, but good drinks. Address 3-15-12 Shinjuku
Krakau –> Satori, breakfast and lunch!
Wroclaw –> Soul Cafe. Lunch! Salads, probably the best cookies I ever had.
Warsaw –> Fabrykatrzciny. Out of the centre, and not always open, but check for events!
Ourense –> Café Latino. This is what a Jazz Cafe should be like.
Granada –> Pasteleria Lopez-Mezquita, Reyes Católicos, 39. Coffee, great pastries and watching the locals.
New York City, Manhattan Topaz near Carnegie Hall. Endless restaurants here, but this one is great. Lunch dinner, ‘real’ Thai
Flagstaff, AZ: only place so far discovered to enjoy coffee in Flagstaff: macy’s
Los Angeles CA
